What Causes Fatty Lump With Redness And Burning Sensation In Armpit?

I have had a fatty lump on my bra line under my arm for three or four years. It has very slowly grown in size to approx 1.5 inches in diameter. It has never been painful until now. It has grown much faster in last couple on months and for the last week has had a lot of redness, burning sensation and pain and swelling. I have appointment with specialist in two weeks time. Do you think this sounds infected and should I see a GP now or wait?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello! Good Day! Your symptoms of pain and swelling in the armpit looks like you have a beginning infection. I advise that you see a physician asap for a thorough physical exam to rule-out other causes of your concern. If I am you treating doctor, I will start you on antibacterial medication and observe if it resolves with medication alone. I hope my advise eases your concern.
