What Causes Fatigue With High Blood Sugar Levels?

Hi I just found out about 6 months ago I have type 2 diabetes. I'm take metformin and have been careful my sugar levels are usually good. Yesterday went to a party and I didn't watch at all my levels have been so good that I forget I'm a diabetic. I woke up feeling like a mac truck hit me as the day was going on I was feeling worse. I took my meds in the morning but I never checked my levels. Then around 4 when thought maybe I'm getting the flu my husband said have to checked your sugar. It was 154 and this was after taken my meds so I'm sure it must of been higher. I drank alot of water and didn't eat much my levels dropped to 134. 154 would that make me feel like a truck hit me exhusted very weak I couldn't function today and that's not me. I'm still very tired so I'm not sure if it's from the sugar or maybe I am coming down with something. My sugar levels are never this high so I'm not sure.

Hello there,
Good to know that usually you are very well controlled on your sugars. Its ok to once a while be a little easy on your watch. As far as your overall control is good it wont do too much harm.
Now to answer your question about your symptoms I would have liked to know if you also had alcohol at the party or only binged on food? The blood sugars you mentioned 134-154 I believe they are in mg/dl and these levels would not normally cause you to have all these symptoms. Only when sugars cross 200 we expect if any symptoms. Maybe you are actually catching a flu. It would be best if you visited a physician who could examine you and then advise any blood tests if required. Till then take our medicines regularly, drink lots of water, watch your diet. If you have a fever do check the temperature with a thermometer.
Take care.
