What Causes Fatigue Along With Body Ache And Headaches?

My 21 yr old granddaughter was given a blood test for mono but came back negative. Her symptoms are classic to mono.....severe fatigue, body aches, headaches and now a tightness in her chest. Could it be mono and blood test wrong or could it be somethiing else ? She is a senior in college and one of her housemates had mono the first of the fall semester. Of course, her classes keep her highly stressed. What would you think about her case?

Hi,

Thank you bring concerned about your grand daughter.

1. Yes, can miss the diagnosis of mono to a repeat will clear the doubt.

2. The symptoms may be due to flu.

3. This also represent chronic fatigue syndrome which is due to unknown cause. Treatment. Analgesics like brufen or aspirin and anti allergens such piriton, cetrizine or crlusramine will be my first line. Good sleep and relaxation will get ready of chronic stress. If no relief, consult your family doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mutuma Geoffrey Zambezi
