What Causes Faint Cheesy Smell In Nose After Septoplasty?
I had septoplasty about 3 weeks ago and as my airways through my nose are clearing i can smell a very faint cheesy sort of smell. I hav no other symptoms of a possible infection and was wondering if it is the leftover crusting still inside my nose causing the smell?
Hi,thank you for posting your query on health care magic.
Looking at your symptoms, crust formation in the nose after septoplasty surgery seems the cause for cheesy smell in your nose.
You can try following measures: Saline nasal spray, Steam inhalation, Drinking lots of fluids (warm) as they help in maintaining moisture inside nose.
If after taking the above measures,if still your symptoms are not improved, then it would be advisable to consult an Otolaryngologist doctor.Endoscopy of nose might be needed to find out the cause and if nasal crusting is there,it can also be removed.
Hope this answers your question.Take care.
