What Causes Facial Itching?

I have had facial itching, mainly in the cheek area and along my jaw line for about 5 days. Sometimes the itching is around my ears but most intense in cheek area. My cheek area is rough and appears to have tiny vesicles. I also have a few larger vesicles on my chin and cheek but they are few. I have not changed my diet, I do not wear makeup. I do use an essential oil mix for mature skin on my face but have never had a problem with it. This came on very sudden and I wake up at night scratching my cheek area and sometimes during the day because the itching is so intense.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Looks like you have got some form of allergy which has caused some dryness which has further caused you the itching. I suggest first of all take some oral anti-allergic medication twice a day for at least 5 to 6 days till the itching subsides. You must change your face cleanser to a mild moisturising one which will not further dry your face. You can start applying a steroidal cream twice a day for at least 5 to 6 days on the concerned area. Kindly avoid the oil application till these symptoms settle. Also do get your skin reviewed by your concerned doctor for a prescription.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Smruti Pevekar
