What Causes Extreme Stomach Bloating And Fatigue Despite Suffering From Hypothyroidism?

First of all I m 25 and I have hypothyroidism.. But I m on medication and my blood work says everything is fine. But I have been having extreme bloating, fatigue, irritability and weight gain for the past year and a half I just can t take it anymore it s so incredibly bad that I can t eat ANYTHING without feeling like complete death. recently my feet have been swollen every day for the past two weeks. And my back is really stiff. I don t know what is going on my family doctor just wants to pump me full of prescription heartburn meds and anti depressants!! I don t want either of them I just want to figure out what s causing the problem so I can either avoid the cause or fix the problem. I have no idea what kind of test I can request I have a feeling it may be stomach/intestine related. Can someone help me out, I am so tired of feeling this way, i haven t been myself for almost two years now I just want to feel healthy and have energy again!! Thanks for reading!

Hello,

You have history of hypothyroidism and presently you are suffering from stiffness of the back, swelling in your feet, extreme stomach bloating, fatigue, irritability and weight gain. Your symptoms are indicative that you are not taking medicines for hypothyroidism properly or you are neglecting yourself. Get a repeat T3, T4, TSH test done, If needed you will be prescribed the correct dose of medicine for hypothyroidism so that you feel better.

Avoid sedentary lifestyle, do stretch exercises and walking in the morning and evening to help better lymphatic circulation and to help lose weight. Since you are bloating, avoid oily, spicy junk food, avoid packaged food, full fat dairy products, trans fat, red meat and refined flour, etc. Take boiled food, whole cereals that are well cooked, well cooked veggies, fruits and berries. Avoid taking anything raw for a couple of days. Take fruits and berries in porridge or oats meal let it get a little cooked.

Avoid raw salads, you can take well steamed salads. Avoid food that can cause acid reflux and gastritis. Stiff back may be indicative of gastritis. Take food that gets easily digested. You can take enzyme (syrup / capsule) to aid better digestion. When you feel better you can take lean meat and small fish cooked in olive oil. Presently avoid all other oil. Avoid constipation, you can take laxatives for a better bowel movement. In case you bloat, take PPIs for relief, symptoms may take a little time to go away.

Fatigue is due to weight gain and hypothyroidism. Take medicine for hypothyroidism, you will feel better. Take small portion of food multiple times a day. You can take liver tonics or food good for the liver. Swelling of the feet is indicative of water retention and sedentary lifestyle. Get more active and limit salt intake, avoid salty food. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
