What Causes Extreme Mood Swings Along With Tiredness?

Im almost 16 and i have so much wrong with me in the head ive been to different councelling, nothing seems to work and i dont wanna be put on anti-depressants ? My mood swings are terrible and im always tired, my friend said i could be bipolar and i know i shouldnt listen to online tests, but i took a bipolar test and it said i scored high, so theres a high chance of me having it ? I dont want to tell my parents that im scared im bipolar, what can i do as ive got all these other things wrong with me and this is the only thing that can explain it as no one else can explain my moods (excpect just saying im a teenager, but even my friends say theyre worse mood swings than normal teenagers!?) and yeah?

Hello,

I must say you are brave because you are seeking medical attention for this which most people don’t do.

So you have already taken a good step. I can understand how everyone reacts and thinks that the mood swings are likely due to the hormones as happens in teenagers, but when you feel there is more of it and it's not what everyone thinks the best thing is seeking medical attention.

I would suggest you talk to your parents about it and consult a psychiatrist.

Don’t be afraid of taking medicines if prescribed by your doctor for anxiety or mood swings as the doctor prescribes those for your benefit after taking history and necessary tests to make sure there is need of the medicines.

Consult a psychiatrist and follow her advice on further management as there are other therapies like CBT, counselling sessions with psychotherapist apart from medicines which help a lot.

I would also advise you to try meditating, its worth giving try. Do regular exercise which will elevate your mood and helps in bringing the anxiety down.

Most important have a positive outlook and believe in yourself that you want to come out of this issue and focus on more important thing.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
