What Causes Extreme Drowsiness And Sluggish Feeling?

I am 64, I am taking Losar 50 mg in the morning; Cardace 2,5 mg, Atrovas 10 mg and ASA at night. I feel slugish though my BP is under control ( 84-90, 130 to 140). I walk 3 to 5 km in the evening at a good pace and have no other complaints. Please advise how to get over the feeling of sluggishness throughout the day. I cannot excercise in the morning as I start work at 7 am ( mostly desk bound job) . Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Drowsiness & sluggish feeling is commonly due to Hypoglycemia, Dehydration, Vertigo, Iron deficiency anemia, Inadequate sleep(insomnia), Developing Neurological or CAD, coronary artery disease (faster irregular heart beats).

You are suggested to visit ER & get a complete medical check up done. You may have to get CBC (F, PP, Hb%), Urinalysis, Lipid profle, ECG, Echocardiography, Stress test, Nerve Conduction tests, required Imaging tests to rule out neurological, CAD & any other pathology causing the discomfort. To rule out Vertigo get audiometry & middle ear examination done.

Your treatment will depend upon the severity of the pathology detected. In the meantime take adequate sleep, stay away from stress, take home made food avoid high purine diet. Do regular exercises & stay hydrated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
