What Causes Excessive Weight Loss After Removal Of Thyroid?

My father is continuously losing weight (he lost 22 lbs this past month) and he wasnt a big guy to start with. After having his thyroid removed due to hashimotos his body stopped retaining calcium. He has now started blacking out and the last time he fell off one step and his leg shattered. He has had tests on his vitamins, nutrients, liver, kidneys, heart, stool, mri s and ct scans and everything has come back normal. Which tests would suggest he ask for now?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thyroidectomy is not the reason of excessive weight loss. If all tests are normal, can be associated with stress/general weakness.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel
