What Causes Excessive Sweating, Dizziness, Leg Pain, Soreness Behind Eyes And Tonsillitis?

Hi, I ve had a sore throat for over two weeks now. It was first diagnosed as tonsilitis and I was given antibiotics, which worked to take the pain and most of the infection away (yellowness on tonsils). A week later I still have swollen glands, no longer yellow spots on them or much pain. I also have experienced night and morning sweats, dizziness, leg aches and soreness behind my eyes when I move them from side to side I went back to the doctors and he sent me for an oral swab for gonorrhea. Two weeks ago I did have unprotected oral sex with a man but he did not show the symptoms of gonorrhea. Should I be worried that I have contracted it? In your professional opinion does this sound like gonorrhea or the aftermath of having tonsilitis? Thank you :)

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You had unprotected oral sex with a man as he did not show symptoms of gonorrhea. Presently, you are suffering from morning sweats, dizziness, leg aches, soreness behind the eyes, etc. You also have history of tonsillitis that had been treated recently. Your symptoms are indicative that you may be infected with gonorrhea or HPV. Get STD tests and screening for HPV done. Gonorrhea affected eyes cause eye pain, sensitivity to light, and pus-like discharge from one or both eyes.

When signs and symptoms of HPV-related oral cancer appear, they show symptoms like consistent sore throat, trouble swallowing, jaw pain, and white or red patches on the tonsils. Avoid any type of sexual activity for a couple of days. Get examined by a urologist and get treated at the earliest. To avoid getting gonorrhea or HPV again, abstain from sex until after you and your sex partner have completed treatment and after symptoms are gone. Avoid multiple partners and oral sex.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
