What Causes Excess Hair Loss After Shampooing?

Doc, i am losing lot of hair while oiling or shampooing. especially while shampooing nearly 120-150 strands. However I lose around 70-80 during days between hairwash. I shampoo 2 times a week. I am really scared by seeing the hair loss while shampooing. i tried switching the shampoos, but still the same.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
Around 100 hair fall every day during combing or shampooing of hair.
However, if the hair fall is in excess of this, then it needs to be investigated.
Excessive hair fall can be due to dandruff (fungal infection of the scalp), weakening of hair roots, thinning of hair strands etc.
I suggest you to consult a dermatologist / cosmetologist for clinical assessment and trichogram (study of hair).
Management of hair fall will depend on the cause of excessive hair fall.
The management can include treatment of dandruff, rejuvenating the hair follicles etc.

Thanks and take care
