General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

From the query, I got that you are suffering from gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD). GERD is the condition in which the lower esophageal sphincter is defective causing the acid secretions in the stomach get reflux into the esophagus. Repeated reflux erode the normal mucosal lining of the oesophagus causing esophagitis.

Healthy food habit prevents the acidity and GERD, Proton pump inhibitors, H2 receptor blockers, antacids are prescribed to treat acidity and domperidone to prevent the reflux. Avoid high fat diet, oil rich diet, hot food, alcohol, caffeine and spicy foods to prevent the gastritis and GERD. Esophago-gastro-duodeno scopy helps to identify the involvement of the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum. Consult the gastroenterologist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,

Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
