Liver metastases indicate stage 4 disease. The enlarged stomach you have mentioned is I presume a distended abdomen (belly). This distention in advanced cancer with liver metastases is usually due to ascites (fluid accumulation in abdominal cavity).

I suggest that you should get an ultrasound scan of the patient's abdomen and confirm that its ascites. If ascites is confirmed consult your doctor for therapeutic drainage of the fluid (ascites) as it will relieve the discomfort and improve your father's apetite as well.
I hope it helps.
Please discuss it with your treating doctor.
