Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Just got lab results from a recent doctor visit, all labs normal except vitamin b12 was 2000 and transferrin was 189mg/dL. I am a little panicked by this, what could be causing the vitamin b12 to be so high? Dr. did not seem concerned. Last vitamin b12 was 886 about a year ago. I have liver hemangiomas, could they be the cause?
Hello Dear. If your diet is rich in Vitamin b12, like meat and even rich in green leafy vegetables then your b12 levels may be high. I dont think there is any cause of worry.
If you search in the net it may tell you that high levels of b12 is found in conditions like liver failure, kidney failure, leukemia etc. But unless you have any symptoms of it, which is very unlikely, why should you be worried about it?
Do not go by internet. Just believe your doctor and keep faith on him/her.
Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you. All the best With warm regards Dr Sanjay Kini
