What Causes Elevated Rheumatoid Factors?

I have been using meth amphetamine on and off for almost 4 years. I’m in recovery now 7 weeks. My rheumatoid factor has come back as elevated at 28. Can the toxins of methamphetamine cause an elevated rheumatoid factor? Will I get RA later on in life?

Hi,

The causes of an elevated rheumatoid factor
- Rheumatoid arthritis.
- Other autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), scleroderma, Sjögren's syndrome and vasculitis.
- Infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis, mononucleosis, syphilis and malaria.
- Liver diseases, such as cirrhosis and hepatitis.
- Infection of the heart (endocarditis).
- Leukemia.
