What Causes Elevated Platelet And WC Count With Painful Lumps On The Body?

I had a full panel done as part of a weight loss diet. The blood work came back a bit alarming. White Blood Cell Count 13.50, Platelet count 427, and C Reactive Protein-hs 13.2. Also, a bump appeared on my neck and under my breast about 2 days ago. Both bumps are painful.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.

White blood cell count increases whenever there is any kind of infection anywhere in the body. It is body's normal response to fight infection. As you have mentioned that you noticed painful bumps, the rise in wbc count is may be due to this.

It is not possible for me ascertain what these bumps are based on your explanation. But presence of pain indicates that they are due to inflammation.

I suggest you to consult a doctor who will examine and suggest you with further treatment. There is notjing to worry. It is treatable with medications.

I hope this helps.

If you have any other queries I'll be happy to help.

Regards,
Dr.Prathap Kumar
