What Causes Elevated Liver Enzymes?

My latest lab work shows my GOT/AST to be 210 and my GPT/ALT to be 364 and my AlK/Phosphatase to be 228. I am scheduled for an ultrasound of the liver and then follow-up with a GI Doctor. I had Hepatitis when I was a child. I am 65 y.o. I take Simvastatin for cholesterol and rarely drink. Last Dec my results were 22. 18 and 65 for the above tests in the same order. Any thoughts.

Hi,

Your liver enzymes value raised more than two folds.

So, suggestive of liver hepatocytes injury by inflammation or toxin.

I suggest you investigate with hepatitis profile, USG abdomen for primary work up.

If it is normal than drug-induced liver inflammation might be the reason. So you can stop mentioned drug temporary.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
