Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. I am 17 years old and for months now I have been having nausea, lightheadedness, and other symptoms. They ve tested my liver values over and over and run numerous tests, such as a hida scan and several abdominal ultrasounds. Everything was negative or normal, except for my liver enzymes which were always elevated. They said the only thing left to do was to test it again in 6 weeks. I got it tested Wednesday and they called back saying my liver enzymes had doubled from the last time. They are going to do a percutaneous biopsy of my liver. Do you have any idea of what it could be so that I may prepare myself for what may come?
It will be difficult to suggest without knowing the exact values of your lab results. There are numerous causes of raised liver enzymes depending upon which particular levels are raised. Raised level can be because of viral hepatitis and can also be because of complex diseases. I would suggest you to consult a Gastroenterologist with all your tests for further evaluation and treatment.
Hope you get well soon.
Thank You
