What Causes Elevated Heart Rate While On Sudafed?

Hi for past two weeks been taking Sudafed for a heavy cold. I went back to gym and yesterday and today while just doing low impact exercises my heart rate increased was reaching maxium 100 % .I wear a myzone belt under chest it monitors your heart rate , calories and moreless steps & movements. How long will it take to be fully out of system it has my trainer and myself really concerned. Iam really fit and workout weights and cardio 5-6 times a week and I am 57 years old.

The Sudafed with its content of Pseudoephedrine is a class of sympathomimetic drug from amphetamine group. Via its action at systemic level, it is known to give high or abnormal heart rates.

The effect of the same varies within 72 hours of last dose consumed.
