What Causes Elevated SGPT Level In Blood During Pregnancy?

Hi, My sister-in-law is 6 month pregnant now. 3 weeks ago she has a lot of itching on her whole body. she got tested and found high sgpt around 90.Her doctor gave her medicine to cure it. Now her itching is all gone but her sgpt is amazingly reached higher to around 130. What are the consiquences? Is it harmful for the baby? What should be the cure for this.

Elevated SGPT levels is indication of liver dysfunction.
It can be also elevated due to medications. Hence it needs an evaluation if the levels are progressively increasing.
Generally, elevated SGPT levels will not affect pregnancy or its outcome. The effects on delivery will depend on the cause for the raised levels.
There is no specific method to reduce these levels. See that you avoid diet rich in fats.
If you do not have symptoms of liver disease like jaundice, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and fever, you can wait for now and repeat the test after four weeks to see how the levels are progressing.
