What Causes Elevated LDL Levels?

Good morning My cholesterol is 136 my HDL is too low and my LDL is elevated. Triglycerides are high I have been put on the DASH diet to reduce my weight. How critical is the first number anyway? Overall over the years I have had some of these numbers lower, I am a low cholesterol guy

Hello,

There are no definite effects associated with low total cholesterol. But in people with very low total cholesterol depression is said to be more common. In your case that is not the case. LDL cholesterol should preferably be below 100 mg. If that is then dietary changes should be done like avoid saturated fats, deep fried foods, high cheese, etc. A course of suitable statin may help.

In general low cholesterol is unlikely to be problem.
