What Causes Elevated HDL And LDL Levels While On Levothyroxine?

I am taking Levothyroxine 50 mg. I have been on it for about 9 months. My triglycerides have dropped from 175 to 61 in that time period. HDL went from 28 to 71 and LDL from 42 to 71. Chlesterol from 105 to 153. Previous to that numbers have been stable for years. Could these changes be from overactive thyroid and too large a dosage of Levothyroxine? YYYY@YYYY

Hello,

When thyroid hormone levels are low (hypothyroidism), your body doesn’t break down and remove LDL cholesterol as efficiently as usual. LDL cholesterol can then build up in your blood.

So elevated HDL is good for health. But your LDL also normal range so don't worry. Still, have queries please feel free to ask. Make check-ups for thyroid regularly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
