What Causes Elevated BP After Withdrawing From Diovan?

Ok, heres my story, I have been on Diovan 80 mg for the last 4 years, and on Feb1st onwards I have been on a weight lost regime, taking Niacin and Vitamin C with Diovan, last Wednesday, I went to see my cardiologist and ask him if I can quite Diovan and he has advise me to stop for 1 week and monitor my pressure, my pressure has been going up from 155/100 and sometimes as low as 129/80, this while taking Niacine and the Vitamin C, my question is, is the high blood pressure due to the Diovan rebound?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The elevated BP is due to rebound rise of blood pressure when you have not consumed Diovan for 7 days, which is an anti hypertensive medication. In our clinic, we recommend to taper the dose of any anti-hypertensive for better safe results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
