What Causes Electric Shock Like Feeling In Hand During Blood Withdrawal For Test?
Hi I had a blood test taken from my wrist 3 days ago has soon has the nurse inserted the needle I had a very bad electic shock feeling all in my hand , she had to take the needle out after saying I had moved but I moved because of the pain not before , a different nurse then did the blood test from my other arm not wrist .How long will this last I can not use my tigger finger without getting the same feeling , thank you so much .
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns....
As per your complain it seems that while inserting the needle it has caused piercing of the nerve leading to electric shock like feeling due to sudden outburst of sensations along the entire course of nerve. Mostly needle prick injuries recover completely in a few days of almost a month or even less. As of now you can do warm compresses over the hand.. Start taking Vitamin B complex for a month.. In case if the symptoms does not improve or there is recurring episode of pain you should consult a Neurologist and get a thorough evaluation along with nerve conduction study done to rule out the exact cause of pain and treatment can be planned accordingly..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
