What Causes Ear Pain And Fever To A 3 Year Old?

My three year old son has been complaining about his ears hurting. We went to the doc in the box and they said no ear infection and no strep. He had a fever of 102.9. Fever is gone today but he still complains about ears hurting. It seems to be that they hurt really bad when and right after he swallows. He is almost three and 32 pounds.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for your question. Sometimes, during a viral illness, a bit of fluid can accumulate behind the ear drum and cause pain. That might be what is going on here. However, if the pain persists more than 2-3 days after the last exam, its worth getting rechecked. Any exam can change.
