What Causes Ear Blockage With Cracking Sound While Yawning And Burping?

so i went swimming about three days ago and when i was done swimming i noticed my right ear was completely blocked. i did everything you could possibly think of to get the water out but nothing seemed to be working. the following day when i still noticed pressure in my right ear i got drops which i used later that night and it didnt work. at this point i dont think it is water. the blockage doesn t feel as severe as it did when it started but it is still there. it pops/cracks when i yawn or burp but not enough to unblock it. what could this be?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of ear blockage with cracking sound while yawning and burping which could be due to ear infection due to entrance of water and leading to Eustachian tube dysfunction.

Need not to worry about it. I would suggest you to avoid touching or pricking it with any sharp object and maintain proper hygiene. You should take antibiotic Ciprofloxacin along with Ibuprofen. Avoid putting pressure on right side and take proper rest. Avoid swimming till the tie your symptoms do not get resolved. Put Otogesic ear drops 2-3 times a day. If symptoms keeps on persisting you should visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. Get all the lab tests done for proper examination.
