What Causes Dryness And Rashes On The Lower Legs And Cheeks In A 6 Month Old?

my 6 month old baby has rashes on the back when it started it was just like a spot then it came bigger and spreaded on the front and also he got dry skin on the both lower leg and cheeck and very itchy. we tried several type of cream including steroid cream but it didn"t work. is it ok to give piritone syrup.please give me treatment suggestion

Applying baby oil 2-3 times daily will prevent as well give relief from dry skin and itching.
Do not use steroid ointment unless prescribed by a dermotologist.
Piritone syrup may give symptomatic relief.
