What Causes Dry Mouth And Oral Thrush?

Hello...I have battled with dry mouth, oral thrush kind of condition for some time. Otherwise healthy, my mouth and throat does not hurt, no swollen lymph nodes, nothing (I have not been sick for a long time). I always thought of the dry mouth and thrush type of stuff on the back of my tongue as due to dehydration taking over the counter allergy medication most of my life. I discovered a while ago a white bump on the right side of the tongue. It does not hurt... Know that I am freaking out and checking myself all the time, I noticed a strange flap of extra skin on the left side of my tongue near the back... It is also painless... I have no idea if this has been there a while or not... I am a 40 year old male and do not smoke or drink alcohol regularly... I do have genital warts (so does my wife) and freaked out reading online that it could be in my mouth... I have a wonderful family and I am scared to death...I am planning to see and ENT when I get back from my trip but is there anything you could tell me about me condition? I would really appreciate it...

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain in case if you already have been suffering from a dry mouth and thrush then the first thing that you should do is to consult an oral physician and get evaluated for a proper diagnosis and treatment..
A white bump on the tongue can be due to a few reasons like it can be an inflamed papilla that contains taste buds, it can be a canker sore, if there is a white patch like growth it can be due to thrush,even it can be an oral wart..
The piece of skin flap hanging from the side of tongue can be due to tongue bite causing tear of mucosa which becomes dead and is painless..
You should consult an Oral Physician and after proper clinical evaluation only treatment can be planned..
You need not to be scared of death as all these conditions are treatable..
