Hello,

The medicine Pamelor you are taking is Nortryptiline Hydrochloride. What you are experiencing are side effects of this medicine. Side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, weight gain etc.

To reduce the dizziness and groggy feeling, try to et up slowly from the sitting or lying position.

To get relief from the dry mouth, avoiding too spicy, salty or acidic food. You can chew sugarless gums and candies to stimulate salivary flow. Avoid smoking, alcohol and too much coffee, if possible. Sipping water while eating may help to get relief from dry mouth. There are some medicines available like Pilocarpine (Salagen) or Cevimeline (Evoxac) to decrease the sensation of dry mouth. You can take them 3-4 times a day especially after meals and the effect usually lasts for 3-4 hours.

For constipation, in case it occurs in future, take more fibers in diet. Drink plenty of water and exercise. Laxatives available over the counter can also help.

Furthermore, if these effects are too troublesome, you can ask your physician to change to a different medicine for TMJ problem.

I hope this information helps to get relief from your problem. Thank you for choosing HealthCareMagic. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
