What Causes Dry Lips And Numb Tongue?

For approximately a week I have experienced periods of dry lips and a numb tongue during and after I eat or if I speak too long. I start out eating normally and while eating it gets difficult to maneuver the food in my mouth to chew properly and swallow. If I don't eat for 3-4 hours and don't speak thinks get much better. I experienced this a few years ago after a dental procedure in which a nerve in my mouth was severed. This condition lasted for approximately 5 months and gradually got better. I have not had any dental work done when this occurred this time.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain dry lips and numbness of tongue with a previous history of nerve severing during dental treatment seems to be most probably due to nerve related issue only..

Numbness occurs when there is reduced or loss of sensory branch of the nerve supplying the tongue and can cause such symptoms..

Consult a Neurophysician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigation like MRI Scan can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

As of now start taking Vitamin B complex supplements..
For dryness of lips suck tart candies, chew sugarfree chewing gums and drink plenty of water..

Hope this helps..
Regards..
