What Causes Dry Heaves And Nausea?

Hi. I m a 62 year old male. For months Ive been experiencing the following symptoms with no idea what could be causing them. First, after waking in the morning I often feel nauseous and sometimes experience drive heaves, especially while brushing my teeth. Lately I ve also been having difficulty eating. While I have an appetite the thought of most foods are completely unappealing, even my favorites. I m forcing myself to eat at times but nearly vomit while doing so. Several months back I had an endoscopy but the only abnormally found was Barrett s syndrome. Symptoms seem to be getting worse and I m getting more and more concerned. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Severe reflux can cause nausea, indigestion and vomiting.

To reach the stage of barretts esophagus, the reflux would have to be severe.
You may also need a blood test for h pylori bacteria, which can worsen reflux symptoms

You would need medication to reduce the reflux symptoms along with diet change.
There is also meds that may help the nausea and treat h pylori, if it is present

I hope this helps
