What Causes Dry Cough When Mouth Dries Up?

having dry cough since past two weeks, mostly when my mouth is empty the cough occurs, cough is not coming if i chew or drink anything until my mouth gets empty. Mostly cough arises after evening severe and in the day its mild, i have been prescribed mucocid, but not helping out. what might be the reason, please let me know.

hello,
Do you have any gastric reflux? Irritants that dry out throat tissue will cause your symptoms when throat is empty. at night you are reclined, heating system may be a factor and some mucous may be produced by the body to lubricate the throat. That can give you that choking cough feeling.
Other systemic causes such as a polyp or tumor would require diagnostic testing such as an endoscopy. If symptoms worsen consult your Ear nose and throat specialist. Keep well hydrated and drink plenty of water often. Consider a routine dental exam if you are not up to date to rule out various dental infections.
