Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having dry coughs and symptoms akin to cold or sinus infections. Thinking it has just been allergies, I have continued taking Losartan Sodium 100 mg. However, when I picked up my prescription this week, the pharmacist wanted to talk with me since I had indicated these same symptoms a number of years ago with cozaar . I ve also been having my ankles swell the past 2 wks or so. I m thinking these are some reactions to the medication. ? YYYY@YYYY
The symptoms you describe, dry cough and swelling in the ankles, have both been reported as side effects of Losartan, but are rare. Given that there are many other causes for the symptoms you mentioned, I would try to rule out those causes before thinking it is from the Losartan.
Depending on how long you have been having the cough and sinus symptoms, it may be allergies or a viral infection. The swelling in your ankles may be due to another medication you are taking or a problem with your heart. I would recommend you see your doctor about these symptoms and try to find out the cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch,
General & Family Physician
