What Causes Dry Cough And Burning Sensation In The Sternum?

I have had a dry cough for the last 6-8 weeks. The coughs are short bursts. My sternum burns and it burns through to my back. I don t have a sore throat, I have a scratchy raw throat but further down like at the top of my esophagus. I have a lot of phlegm in the back of my throat and sometimes when I cough I cough up I get dark yellow phlegm. I have to clear my throat a lot and I m horse a lot more than normal.

It can be a chronic pharyngitis. Throat swab can be taken for culture and for sensitivity start warm saline gurgling. Can take Azithromycin and vitamin C also probiotic.
