What Causes Drainage Of Blood From The Rectum?

Father in law has history of prostate cancer. Saw physician yesterday and was sent to hospital with critically low hemoglobin . Had a scope today because they thought it my be an ulcer but that showed only irritation. Father-in-law said he has bleeding from rectum and blood occult too. Giving him a referral back to his doctor . He is 90 years old

There are many possible causes and further tests are required. Most commonly this is seen in hemorrhoids,polyps or fisheries,but he should do complete colonoscopy to rule out some more serious conditions such as tumors.
