What Causes Double Vision And Thyroid Eye Disease When Diagnosed With Hypothyroidism?

I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and am stable on 100mg thyroxin per day. I have also been suffering from thyroid eye disease (usually affecting hyper patients) for the past 12 months with severe double vision. I have been taking ashwagandha root for two weeks now and today my right eye is very swollen, red and sore - do you think it may be the ashwagadha doing this?

Hi,

I doubt the herb does much; certainly it would be difficult to see how it would affect only one spot and not another.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman, Addiction Medicine Specialist
