What Causes Dizzy Spells While Walking?

Husband 85, had bladder cancer, 3 years ago, clear now, had heart surgery 35 years ago, had diphibilator placed 2 years ago, blood pressure runs low average (111/58), had cataract surgery 3 years ago. Blood tests reveal low on vitamin D, enlarged prostrate, stage 3 kidney disease, bit high on cholesterol reading 220, presently frequently feels dizzy when walking, (notice that his pupils don t seem to dilate) and wondered if that might have anything to do with why he gets dizzy. If not, do you have any other suggestions as to why the dizziness.

Hello

My name is Dr. Aida and I am glad to attend you on Healthcaremagic!

Your husband's symptoms could be related to different possible causes: orthostatic hypotension, verebro-basilar insufficiency, chronic degeneration of the cervical spine, etc..
Coming to this point, I would recommend performing some tests:
- a cervical spine X ray study
- a Doppler ultrasound of the carotid and vertebral arteries
- a Head Up Tilt test for orthostatic hypotension
- complete blood count for anemia.
If these tests result normal, consulting with an ENT specialist would help investigate for a possible inner ear disorder.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards!
