I have been having bouts of dizziness, fatigue and low blood pressure. Most important is that I have no energy and cannot get through my normal workout at the gym. I went to my endocrinologist last week to have my thyroid checked - I have Hashimoto's - everything was normal. I had a low blood sugar episode last night with profuse sweating, weakness, and shakiness and i have had naseau when i get up in the morning. I also take triamterine HCTZ for idiopathic edema related to the thyroid problem. Any thoughts on what may be going on? I am tired of feeling punky.
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM! I read carefully your concerns. Your symptoms are suggestive for adrenal insufficiency. Adrenal glands are responsible for cortisol production. Cortisol is a hormone responsible to maintain blood pressure, glucose levels at normal ranges. When it lacks it causes fatigue, low blood pressure, low glucose levels and electrolyte disturbances. To confirm it is would recommend to check the cortisol level at 8 a.m. Electrolites ( Na, K, Cl) would be of help too. After getting the results do not hesitate to attach them. Wish you good health. Kind regards, Dr.Mirjeta
