What Causes Dizziness Post An Appendectomy?

I had my appendix removed a couple of weeks ago. It was an uncomplicated surgery and I am recovering well except I am so dizzy ! It has been getting worse as the days go on, to the point I am so worried I will pass out! My bp spikes then I start getting dizzy. I ve tried breathing exercises and calming methods as I thought it could be some sort of anxiety or panic attack but it hasn t worked or helped at all. I m worried it is related to my recent surgery...or is it in my head?

Hello!

Welcome on Healthcaremagic!

Your symptoms could be related to different possible causes:
- chronic anemia
- an inner ear disorder
- panic attacks.
Coming to this point, I would recommend first performing a complete blood count to exclude anemia (considering that you have gone through surgery lately).
If this test results normal, I would recommend consulting with an ENT specialist for a physical check up and performing labyrinthine tests.
It is also necessary checking your thyroid hormones, because thyroid dysfunction can trigger this situation.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Best wishes, Dr. Aida
