What Causes Dizziness, Disorientation, Easily Aggitated, Numbness And Tingling?

Over the last couple days I have smelt cigarette smoke and burnt toast a couple times when there is none around. I don t know if I should make an appt with my Neurologist (I see him for migraines) I got really ill about a year ago with dizziness confusion, disorientation, easily aggitated, numbness and tingling. I was told it was migraines but now that I am smelling smells that are not there I am a little concerned. Do you know what it could be or if I should even bother seeing my Dr. about it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thank you for posting.

I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns.

The greatest probability is that your symptoms are caused by Meniere's Syndrome. Meniere's disease is a disorder of the inner ear that causes severe dizziness.

However to determine the exact diagnosis you need:
1. Neck X-ray, to rule out neck arthritis.
2. Electroencephalography (EEG), to rule out epilepsy.
3. Complete blood count.
4. Fasting blood glucose test.
5. Urine test.

You should also consult your otorhinolaryngologist, to discuss about the diagnosis and treatment.

Regards.
Dr. Behar.
