What Causes Dizziness And Tension Around The Neck?

Hi, I am having bouts of sever dizziness, especially when making sudden moves. I have a lot of tension around the back part of my head from the back of my ears, down to the base of my neck. I feel like I am running a slight temp (neck is warm to the touch) and disoriented. Kind of like I am in haze today. I have had the dizziness now for three days. What do you think this might be?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have dizziness and tension around the neck . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case the symptoms are probably due to cervical spondolysis , cervical radiculopathy or ear problem like meniere's disease . The symptoms can also occur due clenching of teeth at night also known as bruxism . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may take history , order x-ray , CT scan or MRI of neck to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant along with anti inflammatory , recommend physical therapy or particular stretching exercises . Doctor may refer you to ENT specialist or dentist for proper checkup . For now drink green tea thrice a day and apply warm compresses to neck . Dentist may give night guard .
