What Causes Dizziness And Stomach Sickness After A Head Injury?

A few weeks ago I fell out of bed and hit the back of my right side of my head. It just about knocked me silly. I didn t go get it checked out. Since then I sometimes get dizzy and get sick to my stomach. Also the place where I hit it still has a raised area and a dent that is still sore. What should I do now? I am 50 years old. Have high blood presure, migraines and chronic fatigue.

Thank you for your question

I think you should go see a doctor to get examined as I think you are suffering from a concussion. If I was taking care of you I would do a physical exam and ask you questions to see if I think you needed a picture of your head called a CT scan to make sure there was not any bleeding or fractures.

Your symptoms are consistent with a concussion, which is a brain bruise. It can cause headaches, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, foggy thinking, trouble walking, etc.

Usually the symptoms go away in a matter of days to a week or so

However, sometimes symptoms can linger for months to years, although this is not typical

If this happens there are medicines to help with the symptoms

The best treatment is bed rest. Meaning sleeping a lot in a dark quite environment. No loud noises, texting, watching TV, etc

I wish you the best of luck and hope you start feeling better soon
