What Causes Dizziness And Skipped Heartbeats After Stopping Trazodone Intake?

Hello, I ve had quite a bit of stress in the last few months. I was prescribed Trazodone to help me sleep but had blurred vision, lightheadedness and fatigue so I had to stop. Since stopping I am very anxious and my heart has been feeling like it skips a bit. Occasionally I feel lightheaded when the beat skips but I have no pain on exertion. I m trying to stay hydrated in the heat so I don t think it s dehydration.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The dizziness and skipped heartbeats are related to withdrawal effects of Trazodone which has multiple actions over receptors of heart, blood vessels and central nervous system as well. At the most at home you can manage to have more liquids to combat the issue, but you require medications supportive in the phase of withdrawal of trazodone.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
