Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was taken by way of ambulance with my heart beating 200 times a minute...they diagnosed me with SVT and put me on Metoprol 25mg. I am very tired and running low blood pressure. I am lightheaded and almost falling asleep at wheel of vehicle....I have gained nine pounds in seven days....should I be concerned?
Hi welcome to HCM I understand your query and concern. Supraventricular tachycardia leads to increased heart rate and symptoms like palpitations, chest pain, dizziness, weakness, lethargy etc.So do not worry start continuing Metolar as suggested by your doctor. It will decrease the rate thereby symptoms. Also monitor blood pressure regularly.Get investigations like ECG,2 dimensional echocardiography of your heart and lipid profile for every three months.Never stop your medication or else it will lead to complications like Ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation. If you have symptoms like palpitations, chest pain report to emergency room immediately.Electrophysiological study with Radiofrequency ablation will offer permanent cure.Consult your cardiologist for expert management. Thankyou
