What Causes Dizziness And Fatigue After Taking Tramadol?

Hello, my 88-year old mother has just been prescribed Tramadol for severe back pain (osteo-arthritis, trapped nerve). She is feeling dizzy, fatigue and unsteady on her feet after taking the tramadol, although her pain has disappeared thankfully. Will this side-effect disappear in time? Thank you for your time. Caroline.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Unfortunately these are known side effects of tramdol. It can commonly cause dizziness, tiredness and loss of coordination.
Some persons may also experience nausea and constipation.

These effects do not occur in everyone.

The effects do not usually decrease with continued use of the medication. If the side effects are intolerable then she may need to decrease the dose and add another pain killer to use along with it to help control her pain level.

I hope this helps
