What Causes Dizziness And Fainting Spells During Urination?

My 20 year old granddaughter passed out Sunday (had to urinate before it happened) and of course wet herself. Today at work, she got dizzy and almost passed out (again had held her bladder for about 20 minutes prior to the onset of dizziness) she didn t pass out this time (sat and waited for help), I don t know if this is related in any way. She does not drink, smoke or do drugs of any kind and is not pregnant. Her doctors office is closed until tomorrow. Should we take her to ER or see doctor in the am?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Dear squating position (urinating position)can ttigger vasovagal reflex, which some time can causr dizziness.
Other cause of this sudden black outs or dizziness spells can be related to low haemohlobin or arrythmic heart beats .
I would suggest to get her ECG, C.B.C and blood sugar level first and discuss furthet with nearby doctor.
Hopefully my answer will be helpfull.
