What Causes Dizziness And Blurred Vision?

My brother in law is 56 years old and currently on a trek down the Arkansas River on a kayak. He has been on the river since April 9, traveling by day, camping by night. His current location is The John Martin Reservoir several miles east of Lamar, CO. This morning he text me and told me that he has had the following symptoms for several weeks, possibly since before the beginning of his trip. When he wakes up in the morning, he gets dizzy and can t walk or he will black out. His vision goes in and out and sometimes sees silver spots floating in his vision. The reason I believe he has had these symtoms since before his trip is, he said he thought it may have been hypoglycemia and he took precautions (He added more salt to his diet). He said that helped for a few weeks. The symptoms go away after he has been up moving around for 3 or 4 hours, but appears to be getting worse. I am not in constant contact with him as I live in Arkansas and get texts from him when he has a cell signal. Does this sound familiar?

Radiologist 's  Response
He has to check his blood pressure and do some blood analysis. It can be hypertension, or He has to come back from the trip and to visit a doctor.
