What Causes Dizziness And Blurred Vision After Taking Digoxin For Heart Failure?

I have been on Digoxin for approx. 20 years. It was prescribed as a result of heart failure secondary to cardiomyopathy. I am experiencing extreme dizziness and blurred vision. My eyes have been examined and the prescription changed. I was treated for an acoustic neuroma in 2012. I had radiation as treatment for the neuroma. In addition I am a Type 1 diabetic. Could the Digoxin be causing the dizziness?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think there are 2 main explanation for dizziness:
- Hypotension
- Hopglycemia
To me, you should keep monitoring your blood pressure and sugar levels, record the results for reference. Should report the results to your caring doctor for further evaluation. After a good analysis of all the data, we can decide the right diagnosis and if you need to change therapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
