What Causes Dislocated Left Hip With Pain In Right Hip?

Hi thank you. I had a hip replacement last year. Walked around on a broken hip before it completely broke. Was fine. Walked after ten days. Did white water river rafting - all ok. Then six months later dislocated the hip. Walked around in this contraption around my hip for two weeks. But my right hip started to pain more than my broken one. I had slight pain for two months (I have an extreme high pain level). which I ignored, but now the right hip has started to click twice when I climb stairs. A really loud sound. It hurts a little bit, in the morning but after two painkillers I function the whole day. Only worry is the clicking.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

The clicking has begun because when you walked around with a broken hip, the healthy side bore most of the weight and stress; then again when you walked around with a dislocated one, the healthy one had to work for both the hips. So you having a good tolerance to pain just resulted in you not realising the harm you were doing to an otherwise healthy hip, and now the status can only be assessed using either an X-ray of the reason or a CT scan (of the health hip).

Best wishes.
