What Causes Discomfort In The Groin Area While On Enlarged Prostate Treatment?
Hi I am being treated for c 18 months for an enlarged prostrate with Tamsu 400 micrograms which has stabilised the problem. Over the last few weeks I have had increasing back pain in the mid to lower back area and discomfort in the groin area. No other symptoms. Could the back problem be related to the prostrate? Tks Jim
It can cause pain in the lower back, in the groin, or at the tip of the penis.
If prostatitis is caused by a bacterial infection, it can usually be treated with antibiotics.
Depending on the cause, prostatitis can come on gradually or suddenly. It might improve quickly, either on its own or with treatment.
Please see your clinician who may order for PSA, Urine analysis and culture and would start appropriate antibiotics. Take some NSAID such as Advil for pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
